What does this tool look at?

Tools that measure whether your copy answers the search behind the query: density, readability, heading length and keyword research.

  • Word count and heading structure compared
  • Images, links and schema usage
  • Meta tag lengths side by side
  • Headings the competitor covers and you do not

What this tool measures

When you sit second for a query, the problem is rarely that you skipped SEO. It is that the page above you answers something yours does not. This tool fetches both pages at once and lines them up across ten measures: word count, title and description length, heading and H2 counts, images and images with alt text, internal and external links, JSON-LD blocks.

The valuable output is not the table, it is the list of headings the competitor covers and you do not. Every rival H2 is checked against yours, and when none of its content words appear in your headings, it counts as a coverage gap.

Measurement runs on the HTML source without a browser. Content painted in later by JavaScript is therefore not counted, and since both pages are read the same way, the comparison stays fair.

How to use it

  1. 1

Pick the right page to compare

Do not compare your homepage with a competitor's service page. Take two pages that rank for the same query: search it, copy the top result, use that.

  2. 2

    Enter both full addresses

If a URL redirects, the tool follows it and builds the table from the final address. The column headers show exactly which hostnames were measured.

  3. 3

    Read the missing headings first

Up to 20 headings are listed. These are questions the competitor answers and you never raise. Closing that list is the fastest route to closing the gap.

  4. 4

Do not chase the numbers blindly

If the rival wrote 2,000 words, your target is not 2,001. Cover the missing headings and the word count converges on its own; if it does not, the extra words were padding.

  5. 5

    Measure again after editing

Re-run the same pair once you have updated the content. Ranking shifts take weeks, but you can confirm the coverage gap is closed the same day.

When to use it

  • You rank second or third and want to know what the page above you is doing differently.
  • Before writing a new service page, to see which angles the currently ranking page covers.
  • While preparing a brief for a writer: the missing-heading list becomes the outline.
  • After a ranking drop, to see on which measure the page that overtook you pulled ahead.

Reading the result

  • Content depth warning

Falling below 70 percent of the rival's word count fails the check. That does not mean write more. It means part of the topic is probably missing entirely.

  • Topic coverage

Up to three missing headings is a warning, four or more is a failure. Discard irrelevant rival headings such as careers or cookie notices; what remains is the real gap.

  • JSON-LD difference

More structured data on the rival page can mean they win the rich result slots: stars, FAQ, price. Use the Schema Generator to add the type you lack.

  • Internal link difference

More internal links pointing at their page means their own site treats it as more important. Adding links from your related posts often works faster than writing new content.

  • Images with alt text

Similar image counts but far fewer alt attributes means you are giving away image search. Filling in alt text is a few hours of work.

No. It measures the content of two pages and knows nothing about positions. You choose the rival page, which is why choosing the right one decides how useful the result is.

It is not. Measurement reads the HTML source. If most of your content is assembled in the browser, your word count comes out low, which is itself a risk for search engines.

Comparing the top three results one at a time is enough. Headings that repeat across all three define the real scope of the query; headings that appear once are that site's own preference.

Nothing. Length is not a ranking signal. A short, direct page can outrank a long, rambling one. An empty missing-heading list means you have no coverage gap.
